Nurse Practitioners: Earn Credits to Deliver Primary Care Independently!

Doctor checks patient's breathing

A Florida law passed in 2020 allows qualified nurse practitioners (NPs) to independently practice without an attending physician’s supervision. Nurse practitioners must demonstrate the following guidelines have been met within the last five years: 3,000 hours of practice experience under the supervision of a physician, plus either three credit hours of graduate-level coursework or 45 continuing education units (CEU) in advanced pharmacology and differential diagnosis. Jacksonville University is proud to be offering the 45 CEUs needed to qualify for independent practice through self-paced, 100% online modules in partnership with Availity. See the courses here. $100 per course with Availity offering a scholarship to cover the cost of one.
